Bring me out of prison,
that I may give thanks to your name!
The righteous will surround me,
for you will deal bountifully with me.
that I may give thanks to your name!
The righteous will surround me,
for you will deal bountifully with me.
This psalm was written by David when he was in a cave, perhaps when he was hiding from Saul. These may have seemed like prisons to him because of the confinement. Imprisonment can take many forms beyond the literal example here, such as chronic disease, financial collapse, abuse, or anything that severely restricts your freedom and separates you from people. In times of desperation as such, we can cry out to God and be reminded that God cares for us deeply.
