I like to discuss about 3 versions of John 10:10
ESV : The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
NIV: The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
NLT: The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
Rich could have meant:
(1) having a great deal of money or assets; wealthy
(2) plentiful; abundant :many vegetables and fruits are rich in antioxidant vitamins
(3) producing a large quantity of something : novels have always been a rich source of material for the film industry.
I noticed many false teachers,ie Joel Osteen likes to use NLT version in defense of the prosperity gospel. I have no complains about using NLT; but it is how one reads it that makes all the difference. I don't think Jesus promised material wealth here (that would have been contradictory to his other messages; eg what good for a man to gain the world but loses his soul); rather Jesus promised eternal life - a life right with God again and a life broken free from the chains of sin. The life i always wanted is a life that is free from the burdens of cancerous sin (such as wealth).
