Christmas Reflection 2013

For nothing will be impossible with God." (Luke 1:37)

God is so powerful that he can do whatever he wishes to do. "God is omnipotent. He is all powerful. He is able to do all his holy will. There are no limits on what he decides to do…God's power is infinite." (Grudem, Christian Beliefs: Twenty Basics Every Christian Should Know)

God is so powerful that…

1.     He made the impossible possible in the form of Incarnation. To be a Savior, one has to be (1) human, (2) sinless, (3) God. Jesus fulfills all 3 criteria (see Luke 1:35). Jesus is the perfect gift for mankind.

2.     He showed grace to His enemies so that they can become His children. The angel had to tell Mary twice that she is the "favored one" (Luke 1:28; 30). The word "favored" indicates that Mary received grace and acceptance from God. Our source of strength and hope is to be build upon His grace.

3.     He can use anyone to fulfill His plans. From a High Priest like Zechariah to a humble teenage girl like Mary. No life is to be wasted.

How are we to respond to Christmas?
Faith! We can commit ourselves to the all-powerful God, trusting Him that he will do whatever is best in His glorious plan (Ps 37:5).
